Determination of efficacy of Cropsil through a field trial on French beans at EAGA (Kabuku farm) Abstract
Cropsil is an effective crop enhancer based on plant available monomeric silicic acid. The active moiety acts by accumulating in the cuticula and epidermis of the leaf forming a gel. This is beneficial to the crop in a number of ways which ultimately leads to increased productivity and in a way build up plants immunity.
A field trial aimed at demonstrating the efficacy of this product to the farmer was initiated in 25th of February, 2014 at Kabuku farm on French beans, roses and avocados. A total of three applications were done on beans on the 2nd, 6th and 8th week since planting through foliar spray. By the second application the crop had improved vigour (foliage) and increased flowering by up to 50% compared to the control section. This culminated to optimized pods formation and increased yield by up to 67.2% by the fourth week since the crop entered production. It was also reported that the quality of produce was improved and that more than 90% of the beans were grade one. This implies that Cropsil does not only optimize on yield but also the quality of produce….Click here for more
